 《街角少年》从三个人物的视角展开剧情，探索了巴西圣保罗的音乐、犯罪和宗教世界。多尼、南多和丽塔在同一个贫民区长大，深受放克乐、毒品走私和福音教派的影响。虽然他们之后走上了不同的道路，但是这三个儿时的伙伴最终认识到，他们必须相互依赖、相互支持，才能一路向前，实现自己的梦想。
