该剧基于GeorgeR.R.Martin的短篇小说系列“TalesofDunkandEgg”创作。在《权力的游戏》故事发生的一个世纪前，两位并非大家心目中的英雄在维斯特洛大陆游荡。一位是年轻、天真但勇敢的骑士“高个”邓肯爵士（彼得·克拉菲PeterClaffey饰），另一位是他身材矮小的侍从伊戈（德克斯特·索尔·安塞尔DexterSolAnsell饰），即后来的伊耿·坦格利安五世。。在这个时代，坦格利安家族仍然掌握着铁王座，人们对最后一条龙的记忆也还尚未消失，伟大的命运、强劲的敌人和充满危险的英勇行为都在等待着这对意料之外又不可比拟的朋友。
